An Independent Space in the Service of All
enfanceafrique.org is an independent space, free of advertising and permanent institutional funding. All resources — articles, field data, scientific publications, infographics, mediation protocols — are freely available to everyone, everywhere in the world, across all the subjects that unite us: child protection, social cohesion, and community development in West Africa.
Maintaining this editorial independence and complete free access comes at a real cost: field missions, website hosting, data processing and analysis, translation into national languages, and coordination of the network of researchers and experts. This is why we seek your support, in all its forms — financial, institutional, or civic.
Why This Support Is Essential
At the institutional level, our research reveals that the anthropology of childhood and communities remains largely overlooked by the full range of actors involved in child protection and social cohesion — the State, NGOs, associations, development agencies. This gap goes hand in hand with a persistent lack of interest in cultural and endogenous approaches, which are nevertheless essential to understanding phenomena as diverse as street children, land conflicts, intercommunity tensions, or the challenges of reintegrating populations displaced in Mali and West Africa.
Filling this documentary gap is one of the Network's core missions. Your support contributes directly to this mission — and, through it, to solutions that are more sustainable because they are better understood and better rooted in local realities.
AMAPISE — Institutional Bridge for Implementation and Funding
Our Founding Conviction
AMAPISE was founded on a deep conviction: sustainable solutions for African communities emerge from the communities themselves, from their knowledge, their practices, their initiatives. Since its creation, it has championed Malian endogenous knowledge — local know-how too often overlooked by external development programmes, whether in child protection, community conflict resolution, or social cohesion.
Across all its areas of intervention, AMAPISE plays a central institutional role: it is the bridge between donors wishing to support research and field action in Mali, and the researchers, mediators, Traditional Authorities and communities who directly benefit from it. Any funding granted under enfanceafrique.org passes through AMAPISE, ensuring impeccable transparency, traceability, and local anchoring.
What AMAPISE Implements
* Support and coordination of ethnographic research on childhood and communities in Mali and West Africa
* Organization of community forums and workshops on child protection and social cohesion
* Promotion of educational and protective practices rooted in local traditions
* Coordination with customary authorities for the promotion of children's rights and community conflict resolution
* Rigorous receipt, management, and reporting of funding allocated to research and social protection
* Production and dissemination of resources in national languages (Bambara, Songhoy, Fulfulde, Tamashek)

AMAPISE, founded in 2014, resumed structured activity recently under the direction of its President following his return from doctoral training. The Réseau EnfanceAfrique.org, its scientific programme, is currently in an active fundraising phase. No institutional funding has been received to date. Once funded, each activity will be the subject of a detailed and accessible report.
